Step outside your comfort zone to discover your voice and sharpen your filmmaking skills in a Himalayan valley that both Tibetans and Nepalis consider sacred. This 18 day expedition transformed how I make films and now I want to offer the same opportunity to you.

The moment I stepped onto the Kangchenjunga trek in 2025, I felt something I couldn't quite name. A sense of homecoming. I've been drawn to the Himalayas for a long time, but sitting in a local tea house, eating dal bhat and warming my hands around a glass of milk tea, I finally understood why. These mountains carry a particular kind of energy. Grounding and raw at the same time. I've been longing to go back ever since. This time, I'm bringing a few carefully selected people with me. The Kangchenjunga Expedition is 18 days in one of Nepal's most remote and pristine mountain regions, through traditional Limbu and Rai villages, ancient rhododendron forests, and high alpine meadows. Far from the crowds of Everest, this is a place where stillness still exists. We won't be summiting peaks. What we will be doing is using this landscape as a laboratory for visual storytelling, for building trust with the people who live here, for sharpening craft in conditions that demand your full presence. And beneath all of that, something less tangible but equally important: using the discomfort and the altitude and the slowness to inquire within. To rediscover what drives you as an artist. The 2025 expedition changed something in me. This is my invitation to you to experience that for yourself.

What to Expect

Immersive Learning

Every day on the trail is an opportunity to grow. Through in-field workshops, one-on-one coaching and evening conversations around the fire, we'll work on visual storytelling, cinematography and documentary filmmaking in conditions that no studio or course can replicate. I'll be working alongside you the entire time, helping you sharpen your craft but also helping you connect with what actually drives you as an artist. That second part, in my experience, is often where the biggest breakthroughs happen.

Truly Remote

The Kangchenjunga region sees fewer than 2,000 trekkers per year, a fraction of the 40,000 who visit Everest Base Camp. We'll trek through untouched forests, high passes and traditional villages where tourism is still rare and encounters are still genuine. For the most part, we'll be disconnected from the outside world. No internet. Just the mountains and the work.

Living Culture

We'll stay in family-run mountain lodges and tea houses, sleeping where the mountains are still lived in rather than just passed through. Along the way we'll meet Limbu and Rai communities who have called these mountains home for centuries, spending time with Buddhist monks and semi-nomadic yak herders, learning about traditional crafts and the myths that have shaped this land for generations.

Expedition Experience

This is not a luxury retreat. If comfort is your priority, this expedition is not for you. The itinerary is designed to challenge you creatively and physically. Long days on the trail, significant elevation gain, carrying your own pack. That's intentional. The conditions that push your body are often the same ones that push your filmmaking into new territory. By the end of these 16 days, you won't just have stronger images. You'll have a real sense of what you're capable of in the field, and a much clearer idea of what future expedition productions will actually demand of you.

THE IMMERSION

The Kangchenjunga Circuit

For the Limbu and Rai people, Kangchenjunga is a sacred guardian, not simply a mountain. In Tibetan its name means "Five Treasures of Snow," a reference to its five peaks believed to hold gold, silver, gems, grain and holy scripture within them. This trek traverses the eastern Himalayas, circling the third highest mountain in the world. But we won't follow it in the conventional sense. I've always believed the best stories find you when you leave room for them. So while we have a route, we don't have a rigid itinerary. Maybe we spend an extra day with a community of yak herders. Maybe we stumble across a local festival and stay. Maybe we push to base camp. The path will tell us. This is a documentary approach to travel as much as it is to filmmaking. Following what speaks to the heart rather than the plan.

Semi-nomadic Yak Herders

In spring, the yak herders begin moving their flocks up to the high pastures. If the timing aligns, we may have the chance to join them for a day or two, moving with them through the landscape, earning their trust and documenting their way of life as it unfolds naturally around us.

Tibetan Budhist Settlement

In the village of Phole, Tibetan refugees established a small Buddhist monastery that still stands today. Only three monks remain. We'll spend a day with them, sitting with whatever ceremony or ritual unfolds, and finding the images that live inside that stillness.
